Description

The tradition of American music is deeply rooted in jazz and blues. A large amount of the development of these musical genres took place in the cities of Nashville, Tennessee, Memphis, Tennessee and New Orleans, Louisiana and along a route connecting the three cities known as the Blues Trail. The travel portion of the class will take place in Nashville, Tennessee, Memphis, Tennessee, and New Orleans, Louisiana along with stops on the Blues Trail in Cleveland, Mississippi, and Indianola, Mississippi. One of the goals of this experience is immersion in another culture. In this case, that includes the Blues culture of the Mississippi Delta area and the unique mix of Creole, Cajun, French, and American cultures that exists in New Orleans.
