The course explores the question, what is the difference between self-expression and self-curation? To help answer this question, we will explore how individuals write about themselves in different contexts, from private journals and memoirs to essays, blogs, and social media. We will consider what it means to “represent” the self honestly versus how one “curates” the self for specific audiences or platforms, particularly in digital contexts.
